Ovation and The Ovation Foundation are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to all forms of the arts and artistic expression and we support organizations that educate decision-makers and the public on the value and importance of the arts and arts education.
Since 2011, Ovation has partnered with Americans for the Arts on National Arts Advocacy Day and the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy. Ovation’s CEO, Charles Segars, has served as the honorary co-chair of the event and Ovation has organized artist delegations to take part in congressional visits. Ovation and The Ovation Foundation believe it’s critical to make a case to our elected officials and the public about the value of the arts in our society.
The Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy is the pre-eminent arts policy lecture in this country and is held annually at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Following you’ll find videos of past lectures as well as Charles Segars’ Congressional testimony in support of arts-friendly legislation and policy.
